Hi. The current public edition of the watchtower - 2018 issue 1 - is entirely on one theme - is the bible relevant today. About half of the magazine is on 3 articles on how the bible can be practical. They are "avoid problems" "resolve difficulties" and "cope successfully". On page 7 these are listed and it leaped out at me that the initial letters of these three things are a r c ! Have a look online (or if someone could post the relevant part of page 7). Coincidence or a message hidden by a mole?

One of the things which has always amused me is that multi-part assembly items are called symposiums. The origin of "symposium" was basically just lots of alcohol with each one taking a turn at voicing an opinion on something. So Atlantis!, stuckinarut2 and anyone else - how about a symposium?
Also, back on topic, very few JWs here seem to care about the new UK bethel - a waste of time & money is a fair way of summing up most peoples attitudes.

How long before they start demanding bricks are made without supplying straw, and station taskmasters over them (metaphorically speaking) - that is how slaves are treated.
Also, welcome back Atlantis! - I think you are due a shot of tequilla at the very least!

Unbelievable KMS example
by Saltheart Foamfollower ini've been to the kingdom ministry school (for elders) recently and can report that it is mostly the usual mix of cliches and platitudes.
several letters where basically just read through one line at a time.
one point early on though almost made me laugh out loud.

Several letters where basically just read through one line at a time. One point early on though almost made me laugh out loud. A situation was given :- a brother is shopping online and suddenly images appear along the side. Not actually pornographic but revealing. What should he do? Ps 16:8 was used - to view Jehovah as being beside you. Then it was pointed out that David wrote this psalm and that he is a good example to follow. David. A good example. Not looking at scantily clad women. Really?? Have they never heard of Bathsheba?

Those of you who can explain mathematical concepts, please reply.
by compound complex ini know who you are; you posted, rather eloquently, on venus' thread regarding a teacher making a mistake in mathematics.. my brain is not wired to explain concepts that come to you naturally.
certainly, it is a combination of both your innate ability as well as training in a field in which you excel.
my question centers on those of us who did well in mathematics but cannot explain what we are doing.

Also, there are 10 types of people - those who understand binary and those who don't.

Not called branch servant these days, but I think the nearest to it is Rob Li - fairly young (40s?), featured on branch relocation video last week.

Julian Hodson (no g in his surname) is the brother of Marina Sydlik. He and Michael Purbrick (always want to miss the "urb" out of his surname) were in the same cong - Hebburn - for quite a while, so the similarities are not unexpected.

Simplified study watchtower
by Saltheart Foamfollower inthere seems to be some confusion over what is happening with the study edition of the watchtower - i notice it isn't mentioned in the letter to be read out.
if, as seems likely, it is going to be dumbed down even further then i think this could be the first step to shortening the watchtower study (to 30 mins?
) - it is the only meeting not to have been reduced in recent years.

I am a bit surprised they haven't decided to include the monthly workbook as part of the study edition watchtower to save on printing - maybe next year.
